Melissa Allman, Director of Government Affairs at BAYADA Home Care has 16 years of experience working in home care and home health. She is currently a member of the SCHCHA Board of Directors. Melissa's passion is helping BAYADA's clients and their families stay together in their own homes. Claudia is a registered nurse with more than three decades of extensive experience in consulting and progressive field, management and leadership roles in home health, hospice and private duty organizations. She brings more than 20 years of diverse expertise in clinical informatics, clinical operations, compliance, due diligence, and web-based training. In clinical informatics, she co-developed disease management software, serving eight collective years at Healthwyse and Delta Health Technologies in development, implementation and training for clinical software applications in community-based care.
After beginning her career in home health in 1992 as a patient care coordinator for Total Care in Winston-Salem, NC, Claudia held leadership positions for Gentiva, CareSouth Homecare Professionals and Accredo Therapeutics. Her credentials include multiple designations in nursing and home-based care, including clinical certification in oncology, infusion therapy, and wound care. She is also certified in ICD-10 coding, OASIS, and integrated chronic care management, and is credentialed as a legal nurse consultant and an AHIMA-approved ICD 10 Trainer.
Claudia earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health administration from Columbia Southern University and Pfeiffer University, respectively.

Charles Canaan has over 20 years of diverse nursing experience in a variety of health care settings, to include inpatient, outpatient, home and organizational settings.  His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and a Master of Public Health Degree in Health Promotion and Education from the University of South Carolina. He currently provides education and consultation to new hospice and other Medicare Part A providers and those with learning needs.

Richard Curry joined HRS in 2014, bringing over 14 years of experience in home health as a clinician and clinical manager, as well as expertise in creating innovative care models, reducing hospital readmissions, and decreasing cost of care utilizing telehealth and remote patient monitoring. Rich has presented clinical research on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of telehealth for CHF, COPD, cardiac surgery recovery and palliative care. Working side-by-side with home health agencies for close to 6 years with HRS, Rich has seen what drives successful telehealth programs and what pitfalls some agencies fall victim to when launching or expanding a telehealth program

Dan Dunlop, MA, is a principal of Jennings, a leading healthcare marketing and audience engagement firm. He is a healthcare marketer, innovator, brand consultant, blogger, author, and sought-after speaker, regularly serving on the faculty of national and regional healthcare conferences.

Mr. Dunlop is extremely active as a thought leader in the field of healthcare marketing. He serves on the editorial board of eHealthcare Strategy & Trends. He is a contributor to a number of healthcare marketing publications and news services including Ragan's Health Care Communication News, SmartBrief for Health Care Marketers, Strategic Health Care Marketing, Healthcare Strategy Alert, and Healthcare Marketing Report. Alissa advises national, regional and local healthcare providers on a broad range of legal issues. As both an attorney and a registered nurse, she uses her first-hand experience to understand and strategically address some of her clients’ biggest industry challenges. 

Alissa’s clients include large hospital systems as well as long term care facilities, home health agencies, pharmacies, and healthcare professionals. Her counsel touches on almost every aspect of health care operations including regulatory compliance; operations and risk management; certification; reimbursement and Medicare and Medicaid repayment audits and voluntary repayments; investigations and disclosures under the CMS and OIG self-disclosure protocols involving potential violations of the Fraud and Abuse Anti-kickback Statute; confidentiality of medical information and HIPAA;  facility licensing; certification of need; scope of practice and other healthcare issues involving both the state and federal law. 

On the healthcare litigation side, Alissa handles litigation at the trial and appellate levels, including jury and non-jury trials and hearings on behalf of hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities, home health and hospice providers, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals in claims ranging from medical malpractice, disciplinary proceedings, repayment, and qui tam whistleblower actions.   

In addition to her healthcare practice, Alissa counsels and represents public and private employers on employment issues. She concentrates her employment practice on healthcare providers and represents clients in all aspects of employment litigation, including matters involving discrimination and retaliation in violation of Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, ADA and state employment laws.

Ellen Fulp earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science and her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her Master’s Degree in Palliative Care at the University of Colorado, as the only pharmacist member of the inaugural class. Ellen is Board Certified in Geriatric Pharmacy, specializing in safe, appropriate medication use in the elderly.  Since 2013, Ellen has been on staff at AvaCare, an independent hospice pharmacy benefits manager, providing clinical services to hospice and palliative care nurses from across the nation. In 2018, Ellen accepted the role of Director of Pharmacy Education for AvaCare. She routinely provides consult regarding appropriate symptom management, regulatory issues and medication appropriateness at end-of-life. Her interests include pain management in the geriatric patient population, medication appropriateness, and expanding access to community based palliative care.
